Hi, I’m Joniah Sauberan — a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. I work primarily with young adults, adults, and couples who are trying to figure out life, relationships, and themselves (all at the same time).
I’ve worked in community mental health, residential care, and foster care, which means I’ve supported people through some really hard seasons. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Therapy with me feels more like a real conversation than a cold, clinical experience — you don’t have to have it all together to show up here.
Outside of therapy, I’m a wife, first-time mom to a baby boy, and a dog mom to Shoelace. I love baking sourdough, making coffee like a barista, and listening to Teddy Swims on repeat.
I’m an Enneagram 6w7 — loyal, encouraging, and energetic — which means I take my work seriously, but I bring warmth and humanity into the room. My goal is to help you feel safe, understood, and supported while you do the hard (and brave) work of healing.

If you’re feeling stuck, stressed, anxious, or just want support navigating life’s challenges, therapy can be a helpful space to explore those feelings. You don’t need to have it all figured out or be in crisis — therapy is for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, cope more effectively, and make meaningful changes.
The free 15-minute consultation is a great way to see if working together feels like a good fit before committing to regular sessions. Therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and ready to invest in yourself — and that’s something we can explore together.
The free 15-minute consultation is a relaxed, low-pressure space for us to connect and see if we’re a good fit. I’ll walk you through what therapy with me looks like and answer any questions you may have about the process.
We’ll spend a little time talking about what’s been weighing on you and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out — just come as you are. I’ll also share what session length and frequency might look like based on your needs and goals.
By the end of our call, you’ll have a clearer sense of whether moving forward together feels right. If it does, we’ll schedule your first intake session and I’ll guide you through the next steps.
Not at all! The 15-minute consultation is completely optional. If you feel ready to get started, you’re welcome to go ahead and schedule your intake session right away.
The consultation is simply a free space I offer for you to ask questions, share a little about what you’re looking for, and see if working together feels like a good fit before committing to therapy. Some people find it helpful, and others prefer to jump right in — both options are totally okay.
Do what feels best for you.
My standard self-pay rate is $110 per session for individual therapy and $160 per session for couples therapy. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need, with rates as low as $80 per session. Sliding scale availability is determined on a case-by-case basis.
If cost is a concern, you’re always welcome to ask about sliding scale options during your 15-minute consultation or intake session. I believe therapy should be accessible, and I’m happy to talk through your options with you.
I am accepting some insurances, with more being added. You can find what insurances I take here: Joniah Sauberan LPC on Tava Health - Schedule Therapy
Yes, as a licensed professional counselor, I can provide mental health diagnoses when appropriate. Diagnoses can help guide treatment and connect you with resources, but therapy is about more than labels — it’s about understanding your experiences, coping with challenges, and working toward the life you want.
If you have questions about diagnosis or how it might affect your therapy, we can discuss this during your consultation or first session. My goal is always to support you in a way that feels helpful and empowering.
I currently work with clients 18 years and older. My focus is on young adults, adults, and couples.
You can book your session directly through my online scheduling system at this link: https://care.tavahealth.com/providers/joniah-sauberan
Once you choose a time that works for you, you’ll be guided through the next steps to complete your intake paperwork and prepare for your first session. If you have any trouble scheduling, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to help.
Your first session (also called an intake session) is a time for us to get to know each other further and start building a plan for therapy. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to work on.
I’ll ask some background questions to better understand you and your story, but there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to. This session is also a space for you to ask questions and get a feel for what working together will be like. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and clear about next steps.
The frequency of sessions depends on your needs, goals, and schedule. Many clients start with weekly sessions, which helps build momentum and consistency, but some choose every other week or a schedule that works best for them.
We’ll work together to find a pace that feels manageable and effective for you, and it can always be adjusted as your needs change over time.
Most sessions are 50-60 minutes long, which gives us enough time to dive into what’s on your mind while keeping it focused and manageable.
If you have questions about session length or need a different arrangement, we can discuss what works best for your needs.
I do not provide crisis services. If you are experiencing an immediate crisis or feel unsafe, please reach out right away to trained professionals:
If you’re unsure where to turn, your local hospital or mental health hotline can also provide immediate support.
Therapy with me is for ongoing support and growth, not emergencies, but I’m happy to help you plan for safety and connect with appropriate resources when needed.
